Start your trip in the picturesque riverside capital city, Ljubljana. Climb up to the hilltop Ljubljana Castle and explore the medieval fortress or spend some time wandering the serene Tivoli Park. Then meander back to the pedestrianised zone along the waterfront where you can while away the evening people watching and taking in the impressive architecture in one of the many welcoming bars and restaurants.

Today, leave the capital city and stop by the impressive cliffside Predjama Castle or explore the captivating caves at Postojna. Continue this scenic drive onto the alluring Adriatic Coast and the town of Portoroz. Spend the next two days paddling in the beautiful crystal clear waters, walking along the seafront or sampling the locally caught seafood from one of the many taverna style eateries in town.

Take the time to visit the neighbouring coastal town of Piran where you can wander around Tartini square or experience stunning views from the city walls. The sunsets here are not to be missed and can be enjoyed whilst listening to one of the buskers.

Drive through the vibrant green vineyards of the Vipava Valley, before arriving at the iconic Lake Bled. Take a traditional Pletna boat trip over to Bled Island where you can climb the bell tower or ring the wishing bell.

There are so many ways you can view the lake; you can complete a lap of it by bike, head up to Bled Castle or you can climb up to Ojstrica viewpoint to get the world-famous view over the lake. Whatever activities you choose, make sure you find time to taste a slice of the local dessert delicacy, Bled Cake.

As you leave Lake Bled, make sure you stop off at enchanting Vintgar Gorge. Check the opening of the gorge as it is often closed during the winter months but visitors can stroll along the boardwalks and marvel at the remarkable Radovna River beneath you and the lush beech forests above you. Arrive at Lake Bohinj and prepare to be wowed by more tranquil turquoise water. Situated on the edge of Triglav National Park, this is a hikers paradise.

Pack your bag full of snacks and head off on one of the many trails around this area. Or for something a little less strenuous take the cable car up to Mount Vogel and enjoy unmatched views over the lake and the Julien Alps. There’s no better way to finish your day than with an ice cream by the lakeside and a swim in the refreshing lake.

After a leisurely morning, head back to Ljubljana airport to return your car and catch your flight home.
