The Unforeseen & Unavoidable
Tuesday 13 December 2011 - 11:56

The Treasury’s announcement that APD will rise for all passengers departing the UK from 1 April 2012, irrespective of the ticket issuance date, imposes unexpected additional costs on the air traveller and travel organisers alike.
This unwelcome news does however underline, yet again, the prudence of entrusting your entire travel arrangements, flights together with accommodation or a cruise, tour or car hire in an inclusively priced itinerary with just one travel organiser.
The travel organiser, being bound by the statutory constraint of the EU Directive on Package Travel, is obliged to absorb such additional cost even though there was no way to avoid it.
In Trailfinders case alone, we have underwritten the increase for all such clients, to the sum of approximately £50,000 and of course will as always absorb also all the administration costs including the credit card charges.

American’s frequent flyer program is not affected and all of its codeshare partnerships continue.
