The Best Holiday Destinations for Music Lovers

By Shelley Pigram

I’ve planned entire trips around music before; flights booked because of a festival lineup, weekends extended just to catch a gig, even choosing hotels based on their proximity to a venue.

So, if you’re looking for a travel destination where the soundtrack matters just as much as the sights, these are the places I believe every music lover should experience at least once.

Read on for my guide to the best holiday destinations for music lovers.

Nashville, USA

There’s something different about Nashville. It’s not just a music city, it’s THE music city, especially for songwriting.

Live music spills out of bars from morning until late, and you don’t need tickets or plans. Just walk down Broadway and you’ll hear country, blues and rock music from every doorway.

It’s also a huge part of music history; countless legends got their start here, and you can feel that legacy in the air.

Nashville Live Music

Berlin, Germany

Berlin feels like it lives and breathes music, especially if you’re into electronic.

The city is globally known for its techno scene, with legendary clubs and all-night (or all-weekend) parties that blur the line between day and night.

But it’s just not about clubbing. There’s a raw, creative energy here; abandoned spaces turned into venues, experimental sounds, and a crowd that genuinely cares about music.

Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza is one of those places that fully leans into its identity, and that identity is music.

By day, it’s beaches and chill-out playlists. By night, it turns into one of the biggest electronic hubs in the world, with globally famous DJs playing in open-air clubs and beachfront venues.

Even if you’re not a hardcore party person, there’s something unforgettable about dancing under the stars with people from all over the world.

Beach in Ibiza, Spain

New Orleans, USA

New Orleans isn’t just about music – it IS music.

Jazz, blues, brass bands… it all spills into the streets. Just walk around the city and you’ll discover musicians performing on corners, in bars, or leading impromptu parades.

It’s one of those places where music feels completely woven into daily life.

Spotted Cat Music Club, New Orleans

Vienna, Austria

If your taste leans more classical, Vienna is unmatched.

This is the city of Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss, and that legacy is still alive today through concerts, opera houses and historic venues.

Even if you’re not usually into classical music, seeing a performance here feels different. There’s a sense of history and atmosphere that you just don’t get anywhere else.

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul feels like the epicentre of modern music right now.

Even if you’re not into K-pop, it’s impossible to ignore how big it is here. From massive billboards featuring global idols to fans gathering outside entertainment company buildings, music is everywhere.

The music scene is diverse beyond K-pop however. In neighbourhoods like Hongdae, you’ll find indie bands, underground hip hop artists, and live music spilling out of small venues and bars.

There’s also a polished, high-energy side to Seoul’s music scene. Concerts are slick, visually stunning, and feel like full scale productions.
