From seals and otters playing along the coastline to birds of prey soaring across the sky to elks and stoats. There is some great wildlife spotting to be had, especially for its birdlife where you will find a number of species including the white-tailed eagle which is best spotted on a safari boat tour. For those planning to do more birdwatching it is worth visiting the wetlands around the town of Leknes and Gimsøya.

Fishing is a main part of the local livelihood, and you can expect exquisite choice of fresh fish accompanied by locally sourced produce for a delicious meal. Stockfish, dried cod, is one of the Lofoten Islands most well known exports and played an important role in the country’s history.
