The Ultimate Guide to the Algarve’s Charming Coastline

The Ultimate Guide to the Algarve’s Charming Coastline

Set on Portugal’s south coast, the Algarve’s rugged cliffs and distinct beauty make this the perfect holiday destination. Home to stunning, golden beaches great for families, crashing waves ideal for surfing, enough golf courses for the keenest of players, picturesque coastal towns full of culture, and an abundance of delicious local cuisine at every turn, the Algarve really has got it all!

With warm temperatures and a pleasant breeze, there is always a good time to go. While the cooler winter months are brilliant for golfing enthusiasts, sports lovers and avid hikers, the hotter summer months make for a fantastic beach holiday with hundreds of hidden coves awaiting to be explored.

Boasting an array of delightful towns and beach cities, we’d recommend hiring a car to explore as much of this magnificent coastline as possible. But if you’re more inclined to kick back by the pool, we’ve got a number of incredible resorts, just perfect for some much needed R&R.

Travelling Along the Coast

Fly into Faro Airport with direct flights from all regional hubs in the UK! We can find you the best airline and most convenient times to make the most of your holiday. From Faro, head along the coast to discover some of our favourite locations.

Quinta do Lago

Renowned as the most exclusive area in the Algarve and with never-ending sandy beaches and the Ria Formosa nature reserve on the door-step, you don’t just have to stay here to play golf. Of course, Quinta do Lago offers some of the most amazing championship golf courses in the world; so even if you’re a beginner, it would be rude not to test them out!

For an incredible 5* experience, we’d recommend staying at the Conrad Algarve. With its own golf concierge and shop, all your golfing needs are catered for. Or if you’d simply prefer to relax, this stunning resort is home to an impressive infinity pool, lavish health club and spa, plus fine dining at Gusto restaurant with Michelin starred Chef Heinz Beck at the helm! Check it out here!

Stay at the impressive Tivoli Marina Vilamoura if you want to be in the heart of the action, its location is perfect. Alternatively, the incredible Anantara Vilamoura is just a 15 minute drive away offering a peaceful setting, heavenly spa and a superb array of facilities, ideal for everyone. Check it out here!

Carvoeiro

The quaint town of Carvoeiro is one of our favourites on this spectacular coast. With the wonderful Praia da Marinha beach, you are sure to reel in the likes by getting this on your Instagram. The remarkable rock formations and magical natural caves are picture perfect and will certainly make your followers jealous! Stay at the Tivoli Carvoeiro for the best views in town! Whilst exploring the Algarve there is plenty more you can do and see…

Known as a surf mecca, Albufeira, Lagos and Sagres are the best beach towns with surf schools and cracking waves to match! Boat trips and mountain hikes are also popular activities and, in case you’d forgotten, the coast isn’t too bad for a round of golf! If you’re more of a beach lover, Praia Dona Ana or Praia da Batata are our favourite spots. Boasting crystal clear waters, grab a snorkel and to explore the local sea life.

After all that activity, you deserve some delicious food. Good job these small towns are home to unique restaurants full of fresh ingredients at affordable prices. Authentic Portuguese dishes sapateira (crab) or cataplana de marisco (a traditional mixed seafood dish) are certainly worth trying if you enjoy seafood.

With so much to do and see, what’s stopping you from booking your trip to the Algarve now?!
