Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to explore remote corners of the vast Indonesian archipelago where wilderness beckons and unforgettable experiences await. With over 17,000 islands, Indonesia boasts diverse marine wildlife, amazing coral gardens, stunning scenery and a diverse array of cultures all waiting to be discovered.

Here’s a short guide as to what you can look forward to whilst staying on a SeaTrek Sailing Adventure.

The Experience

What is SeaTrek Sailing Adventures?

SeaTrek Sailing Adventures is about sailing on authentic, hand-built small ships (either 6 or 12 cabins) for an expedition through Indonesia’s fascinating archipelago. Stops include visits to isolated bays, remote villages and stunning islands. Snorkel in waters teeming with marine life, stroll on pristine beaches and trek through jungle-clad islands.

What do you do on board?

When sailing, it’s all about gazing at the passing scenery, enjoying meals served on a communal table on the main deck and relaxing with fellow adventurers. While moored up, there are plenty of opportunities for kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkelling as well as the included excursions.

Where do you go?

These epic sailing adventures travel through some of the world’s most incredible land and seascapes, including the coral rich waters of Raja Ampat and the otherworldly environs surrounding the island of Komodo.

Are the itineraries fixed?

Itineraries are planned but are flexible – sometimes weather changes, local factors and unexpected opportunities for adventure mean variations from the original schedule.

When should I go?

The seasons of Indonesia vary by region. For the calmest seas, clearest skies and best water visibility, you should visit the following areas:

October to January: visit Indonesia’s eastern islands at Raja Ampat.

April to August: visit Indonesia’s southern island of Komodo.

What is included?

SeaTrek aims to give the full experience without hidden extras. This means that all tours include full board (breakfast, lunch & dinner) with professional tour leaders and crew, all food, snacks and soft drinks, park fees, watersports and all taxes and service charges. The only additional extras are any tips you would like to give the crew.

Beers, wine and spirits can be purchased on board, however, you are also welcome to bring your own alcohol at no extra cost.

The Ships

Powered by a combination of sails and engines, SeaTrek’s traditional and authentic Indonesian Phinisi ships are full of charm. The centuries-old maritime tradition of hand-crafted boat building in Indonesia is now classified as a UNESCO cultural heritage.

Although built in this manner, both ships are outfitted with up to date safety equipment and communication technology, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and snorkelling gear.

The cosy cabins are located below deck and use locally produced timber and soft furnishing to give an authentic Indonesian feel. The absence of wi-fi provides the luxury of being able to reconnect with the natural environment and each other.

Ombak Putih

Meaning ‘white wave’ in Indonesian, this is the larger of the two ships at 42m. With 12 cabins and a large public area divided over 2 main decks there is plenty of room to enjoy as much company or solitude as you wish.
