Weeks 1-6  New Zealand

The comprehensive route weaves around the whole country, North and South Island. You choose where and when to stop off to explore a new destination and when to hit the road again, booking accommodation and unmissable experiences as you go. Week 7  Australia            
When you’ve had your fill of NZ, jet across to Sydney and check into the Wake Up hostel, set in the heart of the action. Kick off your year of living in Australia with Ultimate Adventures, joining a group of newly arrived backpackers as you make new friends, get to know your new home and let Ultimate help you find a job. With your group, take on sand boarding, spot koalas on a bush walk and hit Sydney’s best bars, while Ultimate set you up with a bank account, tax number and all the boring but essential paperwork. After your week, you’ll be ready to set up home, whether it’s now in Sydney with some of your new friends, or after a little more travel.

The Rest of Your Gap Year!            
Now you’re officially a local it’s time to enjoy that Aussie lifestyle, from morning runs past the Sydney Opera House, to shrimp on the barbie all day long. In between working your new job, spend your free time with your new friends on Sydney’s iconic beaches, hanging out at local bars or perhaps go to an Aussie Rules game. Once you’ve cashed up and you’re ready to explore some more, maybe take a Mighty Camper on a road trip up the East Coast, head on an island hopping adventure around Fiji’s tropical islands or spend some time in Melbourne, Australia’s cultural and sporting capital.
