Home to jaw-dropping dramatic landscapes and sensational scenery, Chile and Argentina are two of TFs most popular South America destinations to combine and for very good reason. From impossibly beautiful lakes and majestic snow-capped mountains to lush rolling vineyards and buzzing cosmopolitan cities, these marvellous countries pack in some of the continent’s most spectacular experiences.

Located at the end of the world on the tip of the continent and sharing a border of over 3,000 miles, with much running alongside the Andes Mountains, you may be wondering how to combine these two fantastic countries and make the best use of your precious time? Let TF show you how…

Chilean Lake District to the Argentine Lake District

Explore the walking trails and natural wonders of this beautiful region of Chile and Argentina with its pretty lakes, green forests and white snow-capped mountains. Take the unforgettable lake crossing through the Andes Mountains from Puerto Varas (Chile) to Bariloche (Argentina) or vv which includes a combination of scenic cruises and road journeys across spectacular lakes and impressive mountain passes all in one day. Take a look at our Best of Patagonia holiday.

If you prefer exploring on two wheels, check out our Cycling the Lake District of Chile & Argentina holiday, which crosses the border by bike and ferry from Petrohue (Chile) to Puerto Blest (Argentina).

El Calafate (Argentina) to Torres del Paine (Chile)

The two most spectacular and iconic sights in Patagonia are without a doubt the mighty Perito Moreno Glacier (accessible from El Calafate in Argentina) and the jagged peaks of Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. It’s fortunate then that these two places can easily be combined! Our Best of Patagonia includes both destinations and a road transfer between the two. This holiday expertly combines not just one but two land crossings with the lake crossing mentioned above also included!

If you’re looking for a sociable small group tour, take a look at our End of the Earth holiday which travels by bus across the border from El Calafate to Puerto Natales then onto Torres del Paine. This tour passes back into Argentina again on day 10 into Ushuaia!
