Day 1 Vancouver to Haida House
Board your plane in Vancouver to fly to Masset airport where you’ll be greeted and transferred by road to Haida House. The hour long journey will give you a first glimpse of the beautiful and untouched scenery. On arrival meet your lodge hosts and enjoy a welcome orientation conducted by a Cultural Ambassador before relaxing and exploring your surroundings.
Day 2 Haida House
Haida Gwaii is home to old growth rainforests, pristine rivers and a seemingly infinite rugged shoreline, as well as a population passionate about their ancient society and preserving these secluded lands. Your stay at Haida House includes a variety of trips on both land and water, all led by local guides and designed to showcase this incredible landscape and the Haida traditions. Perhaps today will begin with an invigorating walk along the Tlell River Bank or along the sandy beach. Later head on a scenic drive, viewing local attractions as you go, before stopping at Skidegate Village to learn more about Haida Gwaii through intricate carvings and historic displays. End the day with a traditional Haida feast at a local chef’s home.
Day 3 Haida House
Today, step aboard a Zodiac boat to explore the beautiful surrounding waterways and shorelines, you might even catch sight of bears, sea birds and marine mammals including whales and sea lions. The day will also include a stop at the abandoned Haida village site of Skedans, also known as K’uuna Llnagaay, now home to totem poles and house pits and offering a fascinating look back in time.
Day 4 Haida House
Set off on the Golden Spruce Trail, a short and gentle walk through the lush, green canopy of old-growth forest as your guide explains the cultural importance of the area. Later, discover the northern part of Graham Island; gaze at expansive North Beach, hike a boardwalk to the top of Tow Hill for rewarding views overlooking the nearby beaches and islands and visit the towering totem poles at Old Massett, each with its own unique design, story and history.
Day 5 Haida House to Vancouver
After breakfast depart Haida House to visit local artisans studios and gift shops before transferring back to Masset airport and boarding your flight to Vancouver.
