New England Holidays

New England is famed for its stunning fall foliage, towering mountains and rolling countryside with red wooden barns. There's the big city charms of Boston and bustling harbour towns mixed with cute seaside villages and quaint towns with white steepled churches. There’s also miles of coastline to explore, from rugged shorelines scattered with lighthouses to scenic harbours and sweeping, sandy beaches.

The region is rich in history, there’s been a Native American presence here for over 18,000 years and the Pilgrim Fathers landed here from the Mayflower, founding one of the first settlements in the New World. 2020 marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower arriving in Massachusetts. You’ll find historic buildings all over the region and fascinating living museums bringing the history to life.

NEW ENGLAND IN THE FALL: New England is famous for its incredible autumn or ‘Fall’ foliage as billions of leaves change from green to a kaleidoscope of colours. It’s an exceptionally popular time to travel so don’t delay if you want to visit during this wonderful time of the year.

The season generally lasts from mid-September through to Mid-October depending on where you are in the region and predicting peak Fall foliage is not an exact science. However, typically the colours start in the northern states (Maine, Vermont & New Hampshire) in late September and move through the southern states (Connecticut, Massachusetts & Rhode Island) by mid October when the colours rapidly fade.
