WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT ZAMBIA?

The best time to visit Zambia is in the dry season between May and September. At this time game viewing is at its best as animals flock to waterholes and Victoria Falls views are at their most impressive.

The full power of Victoria Falls can be experienced from March to May after which water levels fall until November/December when the Zambian section can dry up completely leaving a rugged rock face.

Zambia Top Tips From Our Travel Experts

Lucy Weatherston - expert

When visiting the Zambian side of Victoria falls you should expect outstanding views and access to the abundant and diverse wildlife of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Also look forward to seeing Victoria Falls Bridge and impressive Batoka Gorge.

Holly Wallis - expert
Holly Wallis

If you’re thinking of attending a safari in Zambia, I would recommend visiting between May and October as this is the best time to see Victoria Falls, because the water levels are a little lower, therefore the visibility is better, with less mist.

Emma Donnelly - expert

Make sure you wear plenty of clothing layers on safari in Zambia as, while blankets are usually provided, dawn and dusk temperatures can vary hugely, and you don’t want to be feeling cold if you’re taking part in any evening activities.
