Cape Town Holidays

africa
Cape Town holidays deliver an enticing mix of sun-splashed beaches, vibrant neighbourhoods, spectacular coastal scenery and moving history. Surely one of the most dramatic cities, Cape Town enjoys an enviable location perched on the shoulders of Table Mountain between the Atlantic and Indian Ocean and puts South Africa firmly on the map.

From the lively waterfront the city radiates out past sweeping beaches, bustling markets and elegant Cape Dutch homesteads. To the north, Robben Island is a moving reminder of the country’s turbulent history, whilst to the south, dramatic coastal drives stretch out to the wild expanses of the Cape of Good Hope.

Choose to stay at the upmarket V&A Waterfront, the historic City Bowl or for a more relaxing stay, one of the city’s beachside suburbs: Granger Bay, Sea Point or Bantry Bay. Trendy Camps Bay is just around the headland and offers a laidback surf scene with cafés, shops and bars opposite its glorious sandy beach. Alternatively, venture to the affluent suburban areas of either rural Constantia, home to some of the world’s oldest wine estates or Newlands, proudly standing in the shadow of majestic Table Mountain.

Trailfinders offers a wide range of Cape Town holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information about what to do here, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore Cape Town on a fly drive holiday, aboard the iconic luxury Rovos Rail, a sociable guided group tour, or are looking for advice on how to combine Cape Town with a beach destination – they are the perfect people to ask.

Cape Town Top Tips From Our Travel Experts

Sarah Johns - expert
Sarah Johns

The first stop for many foodie visitors to Cape Town is Willoughby & Co in the popular V&A Waterfront area. This is an absolute staple for many locals with both a vast sushi menu as well as other incredibly fresh seafood such as grilled calamari, baked scallops and fresh oysters.

James Ferdinando - expert

Witnessing the penguins at Boulders Beach is a must-do experience in Cape Town. Located near historic Simon’s Town, it’s around a 40 minute drive from Cape Town’s city centre. If you’re hiring your own car then you can park easily at one of the car parks at the entrance, and there are also public transport options.
