Day 1 Campbell River
The first day of your adventure is spent in the coastal town of Campbell River. You can choose to arrive independently by car, if incorporating your bear viewing adventure into a fly drive holiday around Vancouver Island, or fly from Vancouver (additional cost). However you arrive, the rest of your day is at leisure. Take a stroll around town and breathe in the fresh sea air on Discovery Pier. Keep an eye out for eagles soaring overhead and enjoy views of Discovery Passage and Quadra Island. You’ll spend the night at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Campbell River.
Day 2 Campbell River to Knight Inlet Lodge
First thing this morning, depart on an exhilarating floatplane flight and gaze at views of the incredible scenery below before touching down on the calm waters of Glendale Cove, home to Knight Inlet Lodge. After a brief orientation, your encounters with the Canadian grizzlies can begin! Embark on a two hour bear viewing tour (by boat in Spring and Summer or from a viewing platform late August to October) followed by a scenic cruise of the beautiful inlet. Reminisce about your wonderful first day with your fellow guests over a hearty locally-sourced meal before retiring to your comfortable room in the unique floating lodge.
Day 3 Knight Inlet Lodge
Wake up in the wilderness and continue your adventure. The area’s native wildlife remains the focus of today as you venture out with the lodge’s knowledgeable guides who ensure you are well looked after and educated on the area’s bears and other local inhabitants. Traverse the Kwalate River Valley on an interpretive hike, learn about wildlife tracking and maybe see the bears taking a morning swim or catching a fresh water salmon. Another tasty dinner followed by an informative evening presentation rounds off an incredible day. Get an early night or relax on the outdoor decking area under the serene night sky.
