Start today’s walk by passing through the vines and the flower filled Niedermorschwihr and Ammerschwihr, where the local vintage, Kaefferkopf, can be tasted in a cosy wine cellar. Continue on to Kaysersberg, voted the prettiest town in France in 2017.

Day 3 Kaysersberg
Today is at leisure in Kaysersberg. Perhaps explore the ruins of the medieval castle or alternatively take the local bus to Colmar, known as the ‘Venice of Alsace’ due to its pretty canals and pastel coloured houses.

Day 4 Kaysersberg to Riquewihr
Start the day with a gentle climb to the French cemetery above the village of Sigiksheim, to enjoy panoramic views of the Alsace plains and the Kayserberg valley. Descend through vineyards to Riquewihr, the ‘Pearl of the Vineyards’.

Day 5 Riquewihr
Spend the day exploring the enchanting town of Riquewihr, which has been declared a historic monument in its entirety.

Day 6 Riquewihr to Bergheim
Pass through the heart of medieval Alsace via the Riesling vineyards before arriving in Hunawirh, home to a fortified church and a stork sanctuary. Continuing on to Bergheim, looking out for the three ruined castles which will loom overhead.

Day 7 Bergheim
Once a medieval refuge where criminals on the run were safe from persecution, spend the day exploring this colourful and ancient market town, or alternatively head to Haut-Koenigsbourg castle.

Day 8 Bergheim to Chatenois/Turckheim
Today’s walk will start by arriving at a poignant WWII German military cemetery which offers panoramic views over Haut-Koenigsbourg castle. Continue on to St Hippolyte and the medieval Klintzheim castle, which is the setting for bird of prey displays, before arriving in Chatenois. Take a transfer back to Turckheim for your final evening.
