In Fair Verona

Day 1  Verona
Fly to Verona and check into your hotel before heading out to explore this historic city. Why not start at the ancient Roman amphitheatre? Dating back to the 1st Century, this magnificent amphitheatre is well preserved and still hosts concerts and plays to this day. This evening, enjoy a dinner of delicious local classics at one of the many restaurants lining the bustling Piazza Bra.

Day 2  Verona
Today, delve into Verona’s literary heritage. Step into the world of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers at the famous Casa di Giulietta, complete with Juliet’s iconic balcony. Later, walk along the Adige River via the impressive Castelvecchio Bridge, easily recognised by its red brick walls and crenelated battlements. A little further along the river, you’ll find the beautiful Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore. An example of Verona’s exquisite architecture, the church boasts a stunning Romanesque design, while its crypt was once believed to have hosted Romeo and Juliet’s secret wedding.

Day 3  Verona
This morning, venture north of the city centre to the romantic Giardino Guisti. Boasting a beautiful and intricate design, these gorgeous, Renaissance gardens are a hidden gem and an ideal place for a peaceful walk. Afterwards, if you’re feeling adventurous, climb up to the nearby Piazzale Castel San Pietro. Surrounded by lush cypress trees, this hilltop fortress is perched high above the city. With panoramic views across the red brick roofs and towers of Verona, it’s well worth the climb!
