Manuel Antonio & Dominical

Manuel Antonio & Dominical Holidays

Just a four hour drive from the capital, Manuel Antonio is one of Costa Rica’s most popular national parks and it is easy to see why! Here, lush rainforest meets beautiful white sand beaches and the Pacific Ocean. Explore the trails through this wildlife-rich national park, where you can encounter nosey coatis, noisy monkeys and vibrantly-hued macaws, before relaxing on one of the tropical beaches. Most hotels are located close to the bustling town of Manuel Antonio and are perched on the hillside offering wonderful panoramic views over the ocean and rainforest.

Further south you will find the rugged coast of Dominical. This wild region boasts wide stretches of isolated beaches, jungle-clad mountains and is home to the Marino Ballena National Park which is popular for whale and dolphin watching.

    Manuel Antonio National Park
    Manuel Antonio National Park
Located just a four hour drive or short flight from San José, Manuel Antonio National Park encompasses lush forest, stunning beaches and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Spend some time discovering the park as you search the tree tops for noisy howler monkeys and hopping toucans or watch in awe as a kaleidoscope of colourful butterflies flit by and hummingbirds dart past you.

The well defined trails in this provide many options to explore the emerald-hued jungle and picture-perfect beaches. The park does receive a large number of visitors and can get busy, especially in high season, however it is still largely unspoilt and well worth a visit.
    Dominical & Uvita
    Dominical & Uvita
Probably best know for its waves, which attract surfers from all over the world, the sleepy Costa Ballena boasts verdant forests and rugged beaches. Uvita town itself is fairly unremarkable but this is the main gateway for Marino Ballena National Park, further south the village of Domincal has more charm and still retains the essence of a laidback beach town.

Visitors to this region can trek to hidden waterfalls, visit wildlife refuges or simply take to the water and enjoy the many aquatic activities available. It's also possible to visit Corcovado National Park and Cano Island from here. There are some fabulous boutique hotels dotted along this coast, these are generally situated high on the hillsides with amazing ocean vistas.
    Marino Ballena National Park
    Marino Ballena National Park
Located on the Pacific Coast the spectacular Ballena National Marine Park is famous for its pods of migrating whales. The area has two different migration seasons so these majestic mammals can be seen from July to November and December to April, with the largest numbers generally found between August and October. These pristine waters are also home to an abundance of other marine life including dolphins, sea turtles and rays.
