Itinerary
Day 1 Verona
Arrive into Verona, a beautiful town in Italy’s Veneto region, often described as Italy’s city of love, thanks to its association with Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. At the airport arrivals, meet your driver and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Verona
After a leisurely start to your day, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Listed city, starting off at the impressive Roman amphitheatre, overlooking Piazza Bra, which dates to the 1st Century and is the third largest in the world. Later, admire the balcony and statue of Juliet at the gothic ‘Casa di Giulietta’ - said to have inspired Shakespeare. In the afternoon, why not try your hand at preparing sumptuous Italian risottos in a wonderful group cooking class, included in your package?
Day 3 Verona
Start today with a scenic stroll over the grand Ponte Pietro, under which the Adige River flows, before climbing up to the medieval fortress of Castel San Pietro, offering unparalleled views over the rooftops of Verona from its terraces. Reward yourself with an authentic pizza at Piazza delle Erbe, the city’s bustling market square, where you can find a multitude of inviting cafés and restaurants. Afterwards, perhaps pick up a few souvenirs from the artisan market stalls.
Day 4 Bolzano
Today, begin your journey to the Dolomites with a private transfer to the station, to board your train to Bolzano. On arrival, settle into your charming city-centre hotel, a convenient five minute walk from the station. Get to know this charming city with a stroll through its historic streets, stopping off in Piazza Walther which is bordered by an impressive Gothic cathedral and several quaint cafés.
Day 5 Bolzano
Begin the day with an exhilarating ride on Renon’s Cable Car, transporting you up to the Renon High Plateau. Admire the astounding mountainous scenery of the Dolomites as you rise above the city and enjoy a hike at the top along wonderful trails. After returning to the city, enjoy a bite to eat from Piazza dell’Erbe, a delightful fruit and vegetable market held on weekdays. In the afternoon, see a 5000 year old mummified ice man in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology.
Day 6 Bolzano
Visit one of Bolzano’s most beautiful castles, Runklestein Castle, dating back to medieval times. In the afternoon, why not rent a bike from your hotel and go for an invigorating cycle along Bolzano’s wonderful cycle routes, leading into the city’s bordering lush countryside. Perhaps end your day with a visit to a nearby vineyard for a spot of South Tyrol wine-tasting
Day 7 Bolzano
