Day 1 Barcelona, Spain
Arrive in Barcelona and transfer to your hotel. Meet your tour leader and fellow travellers at a welcome meeting this evening, later head out for some Tapas in town.
Day 2 Barcelona
Today is a free day to explore Barcelona at your own pace, with so many options available you can make it your own adventure. Head out on a food tour or explore the outskirts of the city with its sleepy villages and olive groves. Maybe discover the ground-breaking art scene, Gothic architecture, and amazing cuisine. Perhaps visit the labyrinthine streets of the old Gothic Quarter, the Picasso Museum, wander the tree-lined pedestrian boulevard of La Rambla or take the funicular to the top of Montjuic or Tibidabo for panoramic views of Barcelona and the harbour.
Day 3 Barcelona to Avignon, France
A train journey takes you to the fields of Provence in Avignon, southwest of France. The scenery is incredible so be sure to have your camera ready and a window seat to view the mountain hideaways and emerald vineyards, the Mediterranean coastline folding into tabletop mountains where fields of lavender and wildflower cover the landscape. On arrival check in to your hotel and take a walk around this walled city.
Day 4 Avignon
Another free day to spend at leisure and discover Avignon at your own pace. Explore the city's impressive collection of art, visit the grand Palais des Papes (Pope's Palace) and cross the iconic bridge of Pont St-Benezet. Perhaps hire a bike to see more of this picturesque valley and cycle through the countryside, be sure to head to one of the city's amazing bakeries. There are many small French bistros that serve up great regional cuisine, enjoy a French inspired feast for dinner tonight.
Day 5 Avignon to Paris
After breakfast, take the train and head north to the cosmopolitan city of Paris. Arrive in the French capital and check in to your hotel, Paris has a wealth of major sights and things to do. The rest of the day is free to explore at your own pace, start with a wander around the Champs-Elysees, the student-filled Latin Quarter and the bohemian Montmartre will give you a good feel for the city.
Day 6 Paris
Another day to further explore the city, maybe head out to a café to have a coffee and watch the world go by. Visit the world famous Louvre, where you can see the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Join the Thinker in his eternal contemplation at the Rodin Museum. Climb the Eiffel Tower – or take the lift – for some impressive aerial views of the city. The Paris restaurant scene and nightlife are also worth checking out. Marais is a great district for trendy bars and eateries.
Day 7 Paris
Spend today to see anything you might have missed out on yesterday, there is plenty to discover. Start by ticking more museums or cathedrals off the list. Or hit the streets for the best graffiti-viewing at Canal St Martin in the 10th arrondissement – one of the most exciting and up-and-coming areas in town. Full of wonderful restaurants, artistic shops and great graffiti, the area is a great place for leisurely strolling.
Day 8 Paris to Luxembourg City, Luxembourg
Leave Paris behind and take the train crossing the border into Luxembourg City. On arrival check into your hotel and then head out to wander around the Old Town perched high above the narrow valleys of the Alzette and Petrusse rivers. Take a stroll along the promenade of Chemin de la Corniche, - also known as “the most beautiful balcony of Europe”.
Day 9 Luxembourg City to Brussels, Belgium
Take the train from Luxembourg and cross into Brussels, arrive into Brussels after a few hours and begin your journey at the medieval, cobblestone square of the Grand Place. The area is surrounded by local markets, chocolate shops, cafes and restaurants. From here, wander down to the Manneken Pis (Little Man Pee) – an iconic symbol of Belgium. An evening in Brussels wouldn't be complete without a huge portion of moules-frites (mussels and fries) and a glass of Belgian beer. If you like a night out, Ilot Sacre is a great place to find good food and fun bars.
Day 10 Brussels
A free day to spend in Brussels or perhaps venture out of the city and discover the medieval Bruges or the port city of Antwerp. Round off the day and visit the Delirium Café – a cosy basement bar, tucked away on a cobblestone backstreet in the heart of Brussels.
Day 11 Brussels to Amsterdam, Netherlands
Another border crossing today, this time by bus as you leave Brussels behind and head to Amsterdam. The best way to get around this city is as the locals do – cycle. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to museums, one of its best being the Rijksmuseum, housing one of Rembrandt’s most famous works – ‘The Night Watch’ or opt for the Van Gogh Museum, which houses nearly every painting, sketch, print, etching, and piece of correspondence that Vincent van Gogh ever produced.
Day 12 Amsterdam
A free day to explore Amsterdam at your own pace, visit Anne Frank's House – the former hiding place of Anne Frank and seven others during World War II, and the place where she wrote her now-famous diary is today preserved as a museum or there’s De Waag (weigh house) a 15th Century building on Nieuwmarkt square. As many of Amsterdam’s historic buildings have enjoyed multiple uses through the centuries, Dee Waag is no exception.
Day 13 Amsterdam
Explore the food and drink scene of Amsterdam today, starting with a snack – pannekoeken, sometimes sweet, sometimes savoury, but always delicious! You could order some salty fries, taste some of the rich cheeses on offer, or discover the café culture. Visit the best bars, breweries and beer halls of this brew-loving city.
Day 14 Amsterdam to Berlin, Germany
After breakfast, take the final train journey of your European adventure as you leave Amsterdam behind and into Germany and arrive into Berlin. An ideal way to get around and know the place is by taking a bus tour which operate throughout Berlin. There are many unique memorials and sites holding significance in Berlin's more recent history. The Jewish Memorial, the empty shelves of Bebelplatz and the Topography of Terror. There’s the Brandenburg Gate, remnants of the Berlin Wall, the dominating Reichstag building and popular Checkpoint Charlie. Also a hub for good food with a mix of classic German, Bavarian and Italian influences. Maybe spend the evening celebrating life as the locals do – at a bar or lounge listening to some live music,
Day 15 Berlin
Your tour comes to an end after breakfast.
