Days 1-2 Fly to Delhi
After your overnight flight, arrive into India’s most colourful and exciting metropolis, where old and new exist harmoniously, and transfer to your hotel.
Day 3 Delhi to Shimla
Take the Shatabdi Express train to the historic town of Kalka where you will board the narrow-gauge Toy Train for a wonderful journey into the mountains to Shimla, at an altitude of over 7,000ft.
Day 4 Shimla
Explore Shimla on a morning city tour, taking in the Viceregal Lodge, the summer seat of the British Viceroys until the 1940s. Later in the day take a leisurely walk past the town’s Gaiety Theatre and the gothic style Christ Church of Shimla.
Day 5 Shimla
Spend the day at leisure. You may wish to take the opportunity to venture further into the Himalayas for majestic views towards the snow-capped mountain peaks of the world’s highest mountain range. Alternatively discover more of Shimla, including Wildflower Hall, the former home of Lord Kitchener.
Day 6 Shimla to Delhi
Take in the countryside as you drive to Chandigarh before returning to Delhi for a two night stay. Spend the evening at leisure relaxing at the hotel and exploring the city.
Day 7 Delhi
Visit Old Delhi and take a rickshaw ride through the narrow streets for a fascinating insight into the lives of the millions who live here. Savour the atmosphere as you travel through bustling Chandni Chowk and visit Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque and Raj Ghat, a moving memorial to Gandhi.
Day 8 Delhi to Agra
Join the southbound Gatimaan Express train for an early morning rail journey to Agra. Visit the imposing Red Fort, originating from the 15th Century and considered India’s most important fortification. Later on, travel across the city to visit a true icon; the magnificent Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world.
Day 9 Agra to Ranthambore
Leave Agra behind and stop off at the perfectly preserved city of Fatehpur Sikri. Originally built in the 16th Century as India’s political capital, it was abandoned only 14 years later due to lack of water. Enjoy a tour around the ghostly buildings before continuing onto Ranthambore.
Day 10 Ranthambore
Head into Ranthambore National Park, one of the best places in the world to spot a wild tiger. Embark on a game drive in an open top safari vehicle to try and catch a glimpse of these elusive animals, a real highlight of this trip.
Day 11 Ranthambore to Jaipur
Enjoy a morning game drive within the national park to try and spot wildlife you might not have seen the day before. Afterwards, continue to Jaipur, home for the next two nights.
Day 12 Jaipur
Begin your stay in the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur with an exciting full day sightseeing tour. Head by jeep to the Amber Fort and have the chance to explore some of the ornate rooms within the palace complex. Afterwards, visit the ornately decorated City Palace, home to the current Maharajah of Jaipur, before heading to the unique early 18th Century Astronomical Observatory. Finish the day driving past the Palace of the Winds, a stunning red and pink façade built in 1799.
Day 13 Jaipur to Delhi
This afternoon drive back to Delhi for your final evening.
Day 14 Delhi to London
Transfer to the airport for your flight home, arriving the same day.
