Day 1 Santiago to Valparaiso
On arrival in Santiago, transfer to your hotel in the coastal city of Valparaiso.
Day 2 Valparaiso
Discover the winding streets and rattling funiculars of this wonderful city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the Plaza Sotomayor, a landmark honouring the heroes of Iquique and the Pacific War before visiting the beach resort of Viña del Mar, known as the ‘Garden City’.
Day 3 Valparaiso to Colchagua Valley
Leave the coast behind and drive into Chile’s wine valleys.
Day 4 Colchagua Valley
Visit two beautiful vineyards and hear about the different grapes used in wine making. Taste a range of exceptional wines, enjoy a delicious lunch and learn about the region’s past on a charming carriage ride.
Day 5 Colchagua Valley to Santiago
Drive back to Santiago, where the dramatic peaks of the Andes serve as a backdrop to glittering skyscrapers, colonial mansions and landscaped parks. The rest of the day is free to explore this cosmopolitan capital.
Day 6 Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama
Fly to Calama and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. The adobe streets and picturesque church of this charming town add to the appeal of this remarkable region. Enjoy an excursion into the Moon Valley to see the otherworldly rock formations of this unique environment bathed in red and golden hues at sunset.
Day 7 San Pedro de Atacama
Spend a full day exploring the Atacama Desert. See the rock carvings of Yerbas Buenas, believed to be ancient trade route directions, and the variety of colours in the Rainbow Valley. Visit the village of Toconao en route to the incredible Salar de Atacama. Marvel at this vast salt flat, distant volcanoes and surreal natural sculptures.
Day 8 San Pedro de Atacama
Rise early to capture the famous El Tatio Geysers at full power. Witness the swirling columns of steam from 64 geysers, flanked by soaring volcanic peaks. Visit the village of Machuca, a tiny settlement of adobe houses that was once a stopping place for llama caravans on the ‘Inca Highway’.
Day 9 San Pedro de Atacama to Santiago
Transfer to Calama and fly back to Santiago for your onward flight.
