Day 1 Mandalay
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Sagaing, Ava & Amarapura
Explore the historic area around Mandalay starting at Sagaing Hill, the religious centre of Burma which is home to hundreds of pagodas and monasteries. Stop at the local market then continue south to Ava and explore the ruins of this former capital by horse and cart. Finish the day with a stroll along the famous U Bein Bridge in Amarapura before returning to Mandalay.
Day 3 Mandalay to Bagan
Start early to visit Kuthodaw Pagoda and see the fantastic views from the top of Mandalay Hill before heading out of the city. On your 5 hour drive south, visit the Minzontaung Wildlife Sanctuary to see the endangered Burmese Star Tortoise.
Day 4 Bagan
Head to an elevated spot for a panoramic view of Bagan’s temple-studded plains. Visit a selection of these incredible monuments then enjoy a horse-drawn cart ride through the magical landscape. Finish the day by watching the beautiful sunset from a hilltop viewpoint.
Day 5 Bagan
This morning visit a colourful local market then return to your hotel for a couple of hours to relax. Later, explore a number of Bagan’s lesser visited temples followed by a relaxing sunset cruise on the Irrawaddy River.
Day 6 Bagan to Inle Lake
Fly to Heho and drive to Inle Lake. Board a private motorised longboat and enjoy the spectacular scenery as you cruise past traditional stilted villages and floating gardens before visiting the sacred Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda.
Day 7 Inle Lake
On market days you can visit the morning market in one of the lakeside villages. Afterwards, continue by boat along a scenic canal to explore the incredible collection of stupas at Indein.
Day 8 Inle Lake to Rangoon (Yangon)
This morning drive to Heho for your flight to Rangoon. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 9 Rangoon
Explore the city’s colonial landmarks, wander through the bustling lanes of Little India and Chinatown before heading to the famous Bogyoke Market. After lunch, enjoy a stroll around the scenic Kandawgyi Park with its beautiful lake and stop at a local tea shop. End your day at the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda.
Day 10 Rangoon
Transfer to the airport.
Additional Options:Extend your stay in Burma and take a short flight west across the mountains to stunning Ngapali Beach on the Bay of Bengal. Explore small fishing villages that dot the area and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
