Itinerary:

Day 1 Bangkok, Thailand      
Arrive at any time.      

Day 2 Bangkok to Chiang Mai    
Take a guided longboat tour of the klongs to Wat Po temple. Later, opt to visit the Grand Palace or National Museum. Take an overnight train to Chiang Mai this evening (flight and extra night in Bangkok during monsoon season, depending on conditions).      

Day 3 Chiang Mai      
Enjoy a guided tour of Doi Suthep temple, before free time to perhaps go on a bike tour of Chiang Mai, do a cooking lesson or visit other nearby temples.      

Day 4 Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong
Head to Chiang Khong via Wat Rong Khun and enjoy the first view of the mighty Mekong.    

Day 5 Chiang Khong to Muang Pakbeng, Laos      
Cross the border into Laos. Travel all day by boat down the Mekong as you relax and watch the world go by.

Days 6-8 Muang Pakbeng to Luang Prabang  
Continue down the Mekong and stop en route for a guided tour of the Pak Ou Caves, before arriving into Luang Prabang. On day seven, explore the Kuang Si waterfalls and the Ethnology Museum. Day eight is free so perhaps opt for a bike trip, cooking class, shopping at the night market or exploring the town.    
     
Days 9-10 Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng    
Spend the night in a local village with traditional Laotian food. Sleep and eat like a local with a guide explaining everything along the way. On Day 10, enjoy free time in the picturesque town of Vang Vieng, ideal for exploring the countryside by bicycle or kayak.      

Day 11 Vang Vieng to Vientiane      
Explore the capital of Laos. Opt to visit temples, see the National Museum or explore highlights of the town.      

Days 12-13 Vientiane to Hanoi, Vietnam      
In the morning of day 12, fly to Hanoi in Vietnam. On day 13, visit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and stilt house and perhaps visit the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison, museums and the Old Quarter before enjoying a water pupper show this evening.  

Days 14-16 Hanoi to Hue  
Enjoy a Halong Bay cruise on a junk boat for the night with visits to a cave and an island lookout. Cruise back to the port on day 15 and take a private van to Hanoi. Enjoy some time in the city before an overnight train to Hue. On day 16, take a guided tour of the Imperial Citadel and Royal Tombs.

Days 17-19 Hue to Hoi An      
Drive the Hai Van Pass to Hoi An. Over the next few days, explore this historic city and opt to take a cooking class, a boat cruise or visit the famous local tailor shops.    

Days 20-21 Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City      
Fly to Ho Chi Minh City on Day 20. On day 21, embark on a guided tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels.  

Day 22 Ho Chi Minh City  
Enjoy a boat cruise through villages, islands and markets of the Mekong Delta today and visit traditional candy-making factories.    

Days 23-24 Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh, Cambodia      
Travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh on Day 23 and embark on a cyclo tour through the city upon arrival. On day 24, tour the Tuol Sleng Prison and Choeung Ek (Killing Fields).  

Days 25-27 Phnom Penh to Siem Reap  
Drive to Siem Reap on day 25. Enjoy a guided tour of the Angkor Wat temple complex on day 26. There is also the option to visit the Tonle Sap floating village and Angkor National Museum. Enjoy a traditional meal of Khmer food at the Planeterra-supported New Hope project. Day 27 is free to explore further.  

Day 28 Bangkok, Thailand      
Cross the border into Thailand and continue on to the bustling metropolis of Bangkok.      

Day 29 Bangkok    
Depart at any time.
