The CAA's timeline of delaysjust since 2021
29 April 2021, the ATOL consultation was launched (we were advised by the CAA this would be in Jan or Feb 2021, but was delayed).
Paul Smith states that a second consultation with specific proposals will be published early 2022 (Delayed - we still await this).
30July 2021 - ATOL reform Consultation due to close. Delayed to 16 August.
01 September 2021 – Michael Budge states that the second consultation with specific proposals for changes is due to be published in Sping 2022 (Delayed - we still await this).
29 March 2022 - Michael Budge says a second consultation (without specific proposals) is to be published ‘summer time’ 2022. Delayed until 24 January 2023.
The consultation with specific proposals is now referered to as a joint DFT/CAA document (Which is still delayed).
24 January 2023 - Second ATOL Reform Consultation published, deadline for submissions 24 March 2023. Delayed to 31 March.
11 May 2023 - Michael Budge is quoted as saying they are still committed to April 2024 as the start date for reform. The same article repeats that the final consultation (with specific proposals) is expected in Autumn 2023. It now appears both of these are delayed.
15 November 2023 - A Travel Weekly article with unspecified sources suggests the final stage of the consultation will be delayed to a non-specific date in 2024. No official announcment as yet, but the leaks on this subjects tend to prove accurate. Michael Budge said an annoucment on this was imminent.
