Disabled Facilities

APT's ships are not adapted for wheelchair access; if you are intending to take a wheelchair with you please contact the operator directly.

Due to popularity of river cruising when there is more than one ship in port the ships could be moored alongside each other. If the ship happens to be moored away from the landing pier disembarking could involve walking across gang planks and the sun deck of other ships.

River cruises operate with a smaller crew than ocean cruises and do not have the crew available to personally attend to passengers with reduced mobility therefore a travelling companion would need to be able to help with any physical needs.

The itinerary included with the river cruises involves shore excursions visiting places with cobbled streets which can be on an incline making navigation of these streets difficult for anyone with reduced mobility.

info
Dress Code

Generally, smart casual is acceptable on most tours, however some tours may require/recommend per below:

  • Jacket and tie for Formal nights on board ocean cruising
  • Comfortable and light casual clothing for adventure/safari touring
  • Wet shoes for Kimberley Wilderness Adventure, Outback Wilderness Adventures
  • Comfortable footwear is recommended across all tours.

Some cultures observe specific dress requirements, such as head dress for women. Tour Directors will supply more information on tour on any of these requirements.

info
Dietary Requirements

Please ensure you advise APT during your booking process if you or any of your travelling companions have special dietary needs or requests. We aim to cater for all requests which are advised at the time of making your booking.

info
Packing Hints and Reminders

You will also receive a Tour Hints booklet in your documentation pack with a comprehensive guideline of what to pack for your specific destination.

info
Internet Access

Internet access may be available whilst travelling on your journey, however please ask your Sales consultant if this is applicable on your trip. Many hotels and cruise ships have this facility available, at times complimentary and other times at a cost. For passengers travelling to remote locations, there may be no internet facilities for a period of time.

info
Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside any of the river ships, including on balconies in your stateroom or suite. Smoking is only permitted in designated outside areas. The same policy applies for electronic cigarettes.

info
Medication

If you have a food allergy or medical condition which needs to be managed on tour, please advise your Booking Agent before departure, and inform your Tour Director on arrival. It is also worth packing a small medical kit, as even though there will be pharmacies along your tour, they can be difficult to access, and a prescription may be required for some medications.

Suggested Packing List:

  • A general-purpose antibiotic (e.g. azithromycin)
  • Cold and flu medication
  • Your preferred pain medication
  • Medicine for gastronomic upsets
  • Band aids and blister pads

info
Luggage & Packaging

The majority of Travelmarvel tours only allow 16kg to 20kg of luggage. When packing, consider the season of the destination you are travelling to, even in summer many destinations get cooler in the evenings, so it is a good idea to pack a jumper/jacket. We recommend packing light to medium weight clothing as well as rainwear in case of cooler or wet weather. Good walking shoes are must.
