Savute Elephant Lodge, A Belmond Safari

Savute Elephant Lodge is incredible.

We arrived on a small plane, were met with cold drinks and asked if we wanted to go to the lodge or on a game drive. We chose game drive and had a brilliant time. We arrived at the lodge in the dark and were escorted to our tent where our bags were already waiting with welcome drinks.

You can hear animals all night from your room (which we loved). They gave us homemade baobab ginger beer which was great, and they also wake you up in the morning with coffee/tea at your tent before heading off for your game drive.

Our days at the lodge were as follows: up early for a grab and go breakfast, then a game drive until about 10:30/11ish, chilled by the pool for most of the day (or you can go and have a treatment at the spa), then afternoon tea before the evening game drive.

Then back to the lodge for supper and they offer you a menu with three starters, mains and puddings, all with matching wines.

On the game drives we saw leopard and lion as well as most plains game. There were also loads of cool birds!

The staff couldn't do enough for us. On our second night they gave us a private supper on our veranda which was lovely.
