Lalibela Kichaka Lodge

This luxury adults only lodge is surrounded by amazing views, and the nearby watering hole made for fantastic wildlife viewing from the sun deck or outdoor pool during the day. We were greeted and checked in with an Amarula hot chocolate and immediately the lodge felt like a home-away-from-home. We enjoyed the cosy communal areas with large sofas and open fires, quiet library on the upper floor with wildlife books, and the included board games and television to unwind after dinner.

The meals never stop coming but - as the food is exceptional - you can never say no. Breakfast is served after your morning game drive around 9.30am and has a cold buffet and hot options to order with a glass of fizz! Lunch is then 1pm-2pm. Afternoon tea 3pm-3.30pm before your afternoon game drive and then dinner from 7.30pm. All drinks are included in your stay unless they are a premium level beverage, which is explained prior to ordering.

Our ranger was exceptional with 12 years’ experience. He was superb at spotting/tracking wildlife and was incredibly knowledgeable. We were lucky to see all the Big 5 animals except for leopards, which are rarer to spot.

Our room was a bush facing room with a heated outdoor plunge pool and outdoor shower. It was a great size room split on two levels with a small lounge area and a large bathroom with roll top bath.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this property.

Top tip: This is a great choice if you would like to experience walking safaris, as the lodge has trained guides in just this activity. Also, a great option if you want an adults only lodge.
