The Marine, Hermanus

Our room at The Marine was a good size with a lounge area to relax and a good-sized bathroom. The decor is elegant and the room was perfectly clean and comfortable. The complimentary bottle of wine and first round of the minibar was a lovely touch.

The property faces the sea with just a beautifully kept lawn between the sunlounge/restaurant and the cliff edge. At the cliff edge you find steps down to a public natural sea lagoon that you can go swimming in. There’s also a cliff path that takes you on a scenic walk along the coast.

The hotel is also located in the small town of Hermanus and so moments away from shops and restaurants.

The food at the hotel restaurant is exquisite. We enjoyed a dinner, lunch, and our included breakfast and not one thing disappointed. We travelled at the end of November and found there to always be a table available for us. Breakfast was a buffet as well as à la carte.

The pool is a good size and surrounded with loungers set in a courtyard. For sea views, you can head to the public natural pool just steps away from the hotel.

There was a travel desk at the gift shop and the ladies there were full of great recommendations of the area. All the staff were extremely helpful and joyous. You were met with a warm welcome from everyone, and they seemed genuinely happy to help you.
