Kruger Shalati

Kruger Shalati is one of the most unique properties I have ever stayed in. All members of staff are very friendly and attentive and know all guests by name. The property provides the most personalised experience possible to each guest, so for each meal, you have the same waiting staff and you have the same guide for all your game drives.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, there is a group buffet 'braai' where you sit with your safari guide and the other guests assigned to your vehicle. During the meal there is a dance performance from members of the local community, and you can join in dancing if you wish. This was a fantastic experience providing the perfect opportunity to get to know your guide and your safari companions. However, this is optional and a separate table will be provided for you if you don't want to socialise.

The pool on the bridge was one of my favourite places to relax as it boasts amazing views over the river and is great for spotting wildlife below. The pool is located next to a bar, so there are drinks and snacks available as you bask in the sun. None of the pools are heated but provide a lovely respite to the heat.

Game drives last three hours each and we saw so many animals! We managed to get quite up close to quite a few too. Wild dogs, cheetahs, the elusive leopard… the list goes on. Our guide, Basani was very knowledgeable and relayed lots of information about the animals we saw. We enjoyed the sundowners during the evening game drives which also afforded us the opportunity to talk to our guide and fellow travellers.

I highly recommend staying at this property and I am already planning my next visit!
