Fugitives' Drift Lodge

Fugitives’ Frift Lodge has a gorgeous location, very friendly staff, and great food. Dining is communal but you can ask for an individual table if you prefer, and they have pre-drinks around the fire for half an hour before dinner. It's advertised as full board but there's a list of free drinks including wine and spirits, and there's a mini bar in the room which is also free, so you don't need to spend any money when there at all.

The talks are incredibly informative and the guides very passionate about their stories, but be aware if you stay two nights and do both talks in the same day it is a lot of information! If you have the time then three nights is ideal to spread the talks out, and then get to enjoy the lodge facilities as well.

There's a nice pool with some great views, and you might see some giraffe and zebra from there if you're lucky. The staff are fantastic, making an effort to know your name from the start, providing water for the tours and an occasional surprise drinks stop on the afternoon walking tour of the area.

Top tip: Make sure you have an SUV; the drive to the lodge is at least an hour on unpaved, pot-holed roads, and then through a small game reserve, it would be a challenging drive in a standard car.
