Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu

We stayed three nights in the Garden Wing and three nights in the Ocean Wing.

The rooms in the Garden Wing are really a junior suite - lovely rooms and all sea facing. High floors are best for sunsets due to the trees in the gardens.

The Ocean Wing offers bigger and better rooms, and the bathtub on the balcony is amazing. You also get exclusive benefits like your own breakfast area and your own pool area. The beach is enormous so there’s no worries about space, and the sea is calm with a lifeguard on duty all day.

The food is great. The buffet is like a food court where most food is cooked fresh on order and brought to your table. More choice than you can imagine. We would also recommend the Japanese Teppanyaki and Oceania restaurants of which only cost us a little more when using the half board supplement.

I would highly recommend this resort for activities too. We had a spa day, a golf day, sunrise and sunset walks. We went sailing, paddleboarding, and on a bike ride to a local village. There is also a dartboard and a pool table. You will not get bored here!
