The Bush Camp - 1 Night Bush Camp Safari

Making the most of its epic and remote setting above the Ping River in Northern Thailand, The Bush Camp Chiang Mai is ideal for those looking for a back to nature wilderness experience whilst retaining some of life's little luxuries. This delightful camp, set amongst lush vegetation and backed by misty mountains, offers guests the chance to encounter elephants formerly employed in the logging industry, so unable to be returned safely to the wild, in their natural environment.

Day 1 The Bush Camp Chiang Mai

Transfer from Chiang Mai, arrive at the Bush Camp in time for a Thai style lunch. Check in to your comfortable tent before the day's activities begin. Head to the free roaming area where you will spend time in the Elephant Café watching the elephants wandering peacefully in front of you. Learn about the daily life of a mahout (elephant carer) and prepare food for the elephants to eat later. There is then time for you to meet members of the Karen Hilltribe and observe them pound rice and weave their distinctive cloth. After watching the sun set from one of the viewpoints over the majestic Ping River, tuck into a delicious dinner back at the camp.

Day 2 The Bush Camp Chiang Mai

After breakfast, head back to the free roaming area to meet the mahouts and their elephant charges again. Sample a traditional mahout coffee and local sweet treat, Kanom Krok, as you watch the elephants enjoying their morning wash and learn about how they are cared for. There is also an opportunity to make paper from elephant dung (far more pleasant than it sounds!). Return to camp and enjoy a lunch before transferring to your onward destination.

Spacious fan-cooled, safari-style tents complete with hardwood floors, comfortable beds and an en suite bathroom with shower.
