Six Senses Samui

This is simply a sensational hotel, combining luxury with rustic jungle charm. Set on a rocky headland at the very North of Koh Samui, the hotel feels like a world unto itself. The setting is absolutely beautiful and well thought out - the most picturesque infinity pool I've ever seen positioned perfectly for beautiful sunsets.

Service here was splendid - every single member of staff greeted you (by name after a while) and knew your drink order (and how you took it) after the first drink.

We stayed in a Hideaway Villa. Although it didn't have a pool, we didn't mind as the main two pools were rarely busy. The villa itself was lovely - very rustic, with dark woods, a palm leaves thatched roof and every mod-con featured. The bed itself was the comfiest I've ever slept in! An outdoor shower to complete the rustic feel too.

Food was on the increasing list of fantastic features. A nice mix of a la carte and buffet for breakfast was a nice break from constant buffets of varying qualities. For lunch the beach bar was great place to eat, very casual and good food.

I loved this hotel and would suggest it to almost anyone who is looking for some tropical luxury, although not for the less mobile, as it is worth noting that being set on a rocky headland there are a lot of steps and different levels.
