Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, Quebec City

In the heart of Québec, Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac is the focal point of the city and boasts the title of worlds most photographed hotel. From its prime location all the main sites of Québec City are just a short walk from where you're staying and many excursions out of the city pick up from the square right outside.

The rooms were all very well decorated in a classic style with comfortable bedding and the convenience of features such as reading lights and USB ports by the beds.

We visited the bar for drinks one evening, it had a good atmosphere, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful, recommending the best drinks on the menu!

Breakfast is located in Place Dufferin restaurant with great views of the Dufferin Terrace. The breakfast buffet had an excellent variety of pastries, hot food, fruits and cereals. The hotel also has a Starbucks attached which offers a cheaper alternative if you just want a drink and pastry.

The pool area can get quite busy, but the hotel also has a steam room hidden away in the changing rooms that we always had to ourselves.

Top tip: For those who want to learn more about the fascinating history of the property, the hotel runs daily history tours and has a little museum with information boards in its basement. I would also recommend upgrading to a city or river view room!
