Day 1 Cairo
Arrive into Cairo and transfer to your luxurious hotel in the heart of the city.
Day 2 Cairo to Luxor
Fly to Luxor this morning and visit the large temple complex of Karnak upon arrival. Walk through the avenue of ram-headed sphinxes and stand among the columns of Hypostyle Hall before transferring to your luxurious cruise ship, your home for the next seven nights. After lunch on-board, visit the Luxor Museum to see ancient artefacts from the Luxor Temple as well as two royal mummies. In the evening, get to know your travel director, fellow travellers and Egyptologist over a welcome drink.
Day 3 Luxor to Edfu
A day of legends and history awaits today. Visit the Temple of Hathor in Dendera this morning, one of the best preserved temples in Egypt and home to the rare depiction of Cleopatra with her son Caesarian. Later, visit Luxor Temple on the east bank of the Nile. Return to the ship this evening for a scenic journey through the Esna Lock to Edfu.
Day 4 Edfu to Aswan
Enjoy breakfast on board as you cruise past Kom Ombo to the city of Aswan. Famous for archaeological sites such as the Philae Temple Complex and the Temple of Isis, Aswan is a vibrant destination with a blend of ancient and contemporary Egyptian sights. this evening, enjoy a traditional Egyptian dinner and galabeya party.
Day 5 Aswan
Today, visit Aswan's High Dam and Granite Quarries to admire the enormous Unfinished Obelisk. Later, travel by motorboat to the Temple of Isis, rising from the waters of the Nile on the island of Philae. The rest of the day is free to relax and use the facilities on-board the ship.
Day 6 Aswan
Climb aboard a traditional felucca where a traditional sailor will teach you the art of sailing this ancient craft. As the sun begins to set this evening, enjoy a colonial-style high tea at the historic Old Cataract Hotel which is rumoured to be where Agatha Christie wrote her famous novel, 'Death on the Nile'.
Day 7 Aswan to Kom Ombo
Spend the morning at leisure, perhaps join an optional excursion to see the temples of Abu Simbel by air. In the afternoon, sail to Kom Ombo to visit the only double temple of Egypt dedicated to two gods - the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus the Elder.
Day 8 Kom Ombo to Luxor
Continue along the bustling waters of the Nile and enjoy the facilities on-board as you make your way back to Luxor. The evening is at leisure to explore the wonders of the city.
Day 9 Luxor to Cairo
This morning, disembark your cruise ship and transfer by coach to the wets bank of the river to see the Colossi of Memnon and visit the Temple of Hatshepsut within the Valley of the Kings. Later, visit a family home to learn more about local life in this area as you watch them make Egyptian sun bread and learn why this delicacy is so important to the family. This evening, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cairo.
Day 10 Cairo & Giza
Head to Memphis, the famous capital of the ancient world. Marvel at the colossal statue of Ramses II and the Great Alabaster Sphinx, before continuing to Sakkara to see the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest pyramid in the world which dates back to 2,700 BC. This afternoon, travel to Giza to explore the magnificent pyramids and the enigmatic Sphinx. Venture inside on of the pyramids to see where the pharaohs were sent to meet their gods in the afterlife, before enjoying the famous Sound & Light Show - an unforgettable introduction to the world of Ancient Egypt.
Day 11 Cairo
Ascend to the Citadel for breathtaking views over the city and visit the Alabaster Mosque, otherwise known as the Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha who is regarded as the founder of modern Egypt. Continue to Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum to see the many exhibits, including the treasures of recovered from the tomb of Tutankhamun.
Day 12 Cairo
Your tour comes to an end after breakfast where you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
