Itinerary
Day 1 Fly to Cape Town
Days 2-4 Cape Town
The sight of iconic Table Mountain welcomes you to the beautiful Mother City of South Africa! Ascend the mountain by cable car (fee payable locally) for breathtaking views of the city below, hit the beach in stylish Camps Bay and stroll around the V&A Waterfront, home to many fabulous shops, bars and restaurants.
Day 5 Cape Town
Today, enjoy a Cape Walk to Freedom and Robben Island tour. Explore the infamous District Six, where the local community was forcibly removed during apartheid, followed by a visit to the notorious former prison colony of Robben Island.
Days 6-7 Cape Town to Hermanus
Pick up your car and leave Cape Town behind and head to the pretty coastal town of Hermanus. Famed for the graceful whale population that make this bay their home between July and November, Hermanus also boasts upmarket shops and fantastic restaurants. Venture out to sea on an informative whale watch tour and stroll along the shoreline to keep a lookout for whale pods surfacing.
Days 8-10 Hermanus to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
Travel through scenic mountain gorges into the desert-like Karoo, towards Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. Set within a dry ravine, Sanbona boasts a dramatic arid backdrop for your safari adventure. In addition to exciting game drives in search of rhinos, cheetahs and elephants, your guide will bring to life the reserve’s unique geological history.
Days 11-12 Sanbona Wildlife Reserve to Franschhoek
Drive through stunning scenery and rolling vineyards en route to the charming village of Franschhoek, where fine food and wine have become a way of life. In the afternoon, wander the pretty tree-lined streets, marvel at the unique Cape Dutch architecture and sample some of the smooth local red wines as you watch life unfold from a café. Soak up the beautiful mountain scenery as you hop aboard the Franschhoek Wine Tram to visit an array of picturesque local vineyards.
Days 13-14 Fly home
Drive to Cape Town and drop off your car in time for your flight home.
Additional Options: During your time in captivating Cape Town, perhaps embark on a Cape Point & Peninsula Tour and marvel at the stunning beaches, sweeping views and intriguing wildlife, including charming penguins.
