Zambezi Canoe Safari

Day 1  Lusaka to Zambezi River      
Arrive into Lusaka in the early afternoon and transfer to your tranquil island camp beside the Zambezi River.  

Days 2-4  Zambezi River  
Enjoy three peaceful days canoeing the majestic Zambezi River. Start early before the heat of the day and take a gentle pace to make the most of wildlife viewing opportunities. Look out for elephants feeding on the river bank, basking crocodiles and the legendary African fish eagle. You’ll also pass by pods of hippo in deeper water. The experience is magical and nights will be spent wild camping in remote spots.  

Day 5  Chiawa Game Management Area      
Canoe to the Chiawa Game Management area, close to the Lower Zambezi National Park. This area is rich in wildlife and is renowned for elephants, as well as warthog, waterbuck, kudu and many bird species. Enjoy an afternoon game walk or game drive in the reserve and if you’re really lucky, you may spot the elusive leopard.  

Day 6  Lower Zambezi NP      
Paddle downstream to the Lower Zambezi National Park for a guided morning game walk. After lunch, enjoy another game drive as you head to your overnight camp.  

Day 7  Lower Zambezi NP to Chirundu      
Transfer from your bush camp either by road or by boat, depending on river conditions. Savour a cold drink beside the river as the sun goes down on an amazing canoeing adventure.

Day 8  Chirundu to Lusaka      
Journey back to Lusaka by road in time for your onward flight.
