Corner Country Adventure

Day 1  Adelaide    
Arrive at any time and explore Adelaide on a city tour and check in to your accommodation overlooking the ocean at Glenelg.    

Day 2  Adelaide to Mungo National Park    
Travel through the beautiful Barossa Valley wine region to join the Sturt Highway, one of Australia’s famous highways which travels across three states. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the Murray River before heading to Mungo National Park for the night.    

Day 3  Mungo National Park to Broken Hill    
This morning explore Mungo National Park which was World Heritage Listed in 1981 in recognition of its rich Aboriginal heritage. Travel onwards to Menindee, a town of 1000 people on the banks of the Darling River and home to Menindee Lakes. Stay overnight in the legendary outback city of Broken Hill boasting a rich mining and pastoral history.      

Day 4  Broken Hill    
Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre before exploring Broken Hill, the ‘Capital of the Outback’ and the surrounding areas, visiting the Albert Kersten Mining and Minerals Museum. Head to Silverton, the set of countless films before returning to Broken Hill and visiting the Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum, the Living Desert Reserve and Sculpture Symposium.    

Day 5  Broken Hill to Tibooburra    
Visit The Line of Lode Miners Memorial in memory of the miners who lost their lives on the job. Depart Broken Hill and head north along the Silver City Highway to Milparinka and visit the town’s old colonial buildings. Continue onto Depot Glen and spend the night in the small outback village of Tibooburra.    

Day 6  Tibooburra to Innamincka
Depart Tibooburra this morning to venture into the vast Sturt National Park en route to Cameron Corner, where the states of Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia meet. After lunch, continue onto the village of Innamincka, set on the banks of Cooper Creek.    

Day 7  Innamincka    
This morning, cross the border into Queensland to visit the ‘Dig Tree’, located on the banks of Cooper Creek. Tour King’s Marker and Burke’s Grave before returning for sunset drinks round the fire ahead of dinner.    

Day 8  Innamincka to Marree    
Leaving Innamincka, travel south along the Strzelecki Track towards Marree, located at the junction of the Oodnadatta Track and the Birdsville Track.

Day 9  Marree to Birdsville    
This morning we embark on another famous outback trail, The Birdsville Track. It traverses three deserts along the route, the Strzelecki, Sturt Stony and Tirari Deserts.

Day 10  Birdsville    
Explore town and visit the Wirrarri Visitor Centre, home to an extensive gallery featuring work from local artists. A visit to ‘Big Red’ sand dune which rises over 40 metres from the Simpson Desert, reveals nature at her best. It does not get more outback than this and staying at the classic Birdsville pub!    

Day 11  Birdsville to Boulia    
Continue through Queensland’s Channel Country and witness ancient flood plains within the outback arid landscape.    

Day 12  Boulia to Alice Springs    
Travel towards the Northern Territory border today and follow the Plenty Highway to Harts Range and Gemtree into Alice springs, the beating heart of the Red Centre.    

Day 13  Alice Springs    
Enjoy a tour visiting Alice Springs Desert Park, The Royal Flying Doctor Base Museum and the Old Telegraph Station. Admire the stars this evening around a large campfire whilst you enjoy an outback barbeque dinner with entertainment.  

Day 14  Alice Springs    
Depart after breakfast.
