Itinerary
Days 2-5 Perth to Cape Range NP
Start your Australian safari voyage in laidback Perth before flying up to Learmonth to 4★+ Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef in the heart of Cape Range National Park. Swim with whale sharks, snorkel the dazzling reef and spot rock wallabies on a guided hike.
Days 6-7 Perth to Darwin
Fly back to Perth for a final night in beautiful Western Australia, before heading to Darwin, the gateway to the wilderness of the Northern Territory. Time permitting, why not opt for a Sunset Dinner Cruise?
Days 8-9 Darwin to Mary River Floodplains
Today, take a scenic flight to 4★+ Bamurru Plains where the unique safari-style bungalows overlooking the Mary River Floodplains will be your home for the next couple of nights.
Day 10 Mary River Floodplains to Darwin
Fly back to Darwin where you will spend the night. As the sun sets you could take a short taxi ride to Mindil Beach Sunset Market to sample delicious local food.
Days 11-14 Darwin to Adelaide Hills
This morning, board The Ghan Expedition and embark on one of the most iconic train journeys travelling through Australia’s unique outback landscapes, taking in the beautiful scenery from the comfort of your cabin. When you arrive in Alice Springs, why not add on an optional hot air balloon flight over the MacDonnell Ranges and perhaps spot a red kangaroo hopping below. After disembarking The Ghan Expedition in Adelaide, pick up your car and head out of the city to the picturesque Adelaide Hills.
Days 15-18 Adelaide Hills to Adelaide
Leave the rolling hills of Adelaide behind as it’s time for your next adventure: a river safari in Paringa along the Murray River banks, home to abundant wildlife. On your last day, head back to Adelaide and drop off your car on arrival. Spend time visiting Adelaide’s Central Markets where you can sample the best food and wine South Australia has to offer.
Days 19-23 Adelaide to Melbourne
Melbourne is famous for its café culture and quirky laneways but it’s also the perfect base to explore the stunning Great Ocean Road. Watch Phillip Island’s Penguin Parade and visit some of Yarra Valley’s best cellar doors and vineyards.
Days 24-25 Melbourne to Cradle Mountain
This morning, catch a flight to Launceston and pick up your car before driving to the breathtaking Cradle Mountain National Park, where visitors can spot wombats, pademelons and occasionally, the elusive platypus.
Days 26-27 Cradle Mountain to Hobart
On the drive south through the stunning Tasmanian Central Plateau, if you have time, perhaps stop at Curringa Farm for a barbecue lunch and farm tour on your way to Hobart.
Day 28 Hobart to Sydney
Fly to Sydney and pick up your car for the short drive to a retreat at Taronga Zoo for a unique stay and a behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo’s wildlife.
Days 29-30 Sydney to Blue Mountains
Enjoy a leisurely drive out to a stunning nature retreat in the heart of the Blue Mountains. Go on scenic hikes or drives for sensational views, then experience fine hospitality and cuisine back at your lodge.
Days 31-33 Blue Mountains to Noosa
Fly to Brisbane to begin your Queensland adventure! Spend a night in this vibrant city, before picking up a car and driving to 4★ Habitat Noosa for your boutique glamping stay located within Australia’s everglades. Immerse yourself in nature with a boat cruise and canoe through this lush ecosystem and spot the friendly local kangaroos who graze on the grounds of the property. This is a truly unique experience!
Days 34-35 Noosa to K’gari (Fraser Island)
Today, drive to Hervey Bay to catch a ferry over to breathtaking K’gari, the largest sand island in the world. Keep your eyes peeled for dingoes as you cruise along the expansive beach ‘highway’, discover ancient shipwrecks, float along lazy rivers and delve into the rainforest.
Days 36-37 K’gari (Fraser Island) to Cairns
Drive to Brisbane to catch a flight to Cairns as it’s time to explore one of the wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef. Head out to explore this incredible underwater world. Whether you choose to snorkel, scuba dive or visit the underwater coral reef observatory, it’s sure to be a memorable day.
Days 38-39 Cairns to Atherton Tablelands
Transfer into the Atherton Tablelands and your home for the next two nights, 4★ Rose Gums. Nestled within 250 acres of tropical rainforest, this is as close to nature as it gets. Enjoy scenic bushwalking trails to discover the flora and fauna that call this region home, including over 160 species of bird, take a refreshing dip in the nearby lake, or simply relax and soak up the nature that surrounds you.
Days 40-41 Transfer to Cairns and fly home
