Alaska's Wilderness, Glaciers & Culture

Days 1-3  Vancouver, Canada  
Fly to Vancouver and soak up the vibrant downtown area with lively restaurants and great shopping. The following two days are yours to explore at leisure, perhaps wander through Stanley Park, Vancouver’s green heart, or try some local cuisine at the buzzing Granville Island Market.

Day 4  Cruise embarkation
Transfer to the port and board MS Roald Amundsen, bound for Alaska.

Day 5  Inside Passage scenic cruising

Day 6  Misty Fjords  
Part of the Tongass National Forest, Misty Fjords is a pristine wilderness of evergreen trees, roaring waterfalls and snow-capped peaks. The revered naturalist John Muir described the area as one of the most beautiful places he’d ever seen.

Day 7  Klawock  
Attractively situated on the western shore of Prince of Wales Island, Klawock has a population of around 700. A center for Lingit culture, the town is known for its array of totem poles.

Days 8-9  Southeast Alaska, USA  
The next two days are exploration days, so your captain and expedition team will use their expertise to decide where to head next. Perhaps go ashore for a nature landing or take to the water in expedition boats and investigate the secluded coves and forested shorelines of the 150-milelong Chatham Strait. Wherever you explore, keep a lookout for wildlife as bald eagles bears and humpback whales can be spotted in this region.

Day 10  Icy Bay  
Today is an exploration day in Icy Bay, named for the three glaciers – Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall – that feed into the bay’s waters. From here, admire striking Mount Saint Elias which, known for its steep vertical relief, is the third tallest peak in the USA and Canada.

Day 11  Valdez  
On a visit to the Valdez Museum, discover exhibits of Native Alaskan art and culture as well as artifacts from the Gold Rush era, learning about the history of Alaska’s Bush Pilots. While travelling around this region, look out for wildlife such as beavers, moose and bears.

Day 12  Prince William Sound scenic cruising

Day 13  Disembark in Whittier and fly to Seattle  
Your cruise comes to an end in Whittier. Transfer to Anchorage airport and fly down to the Pacific Northwest for a final night.

Days 14-15  Fly home
