Rocky Mountaineer Journey through the Clouds Discovery Banff Westbound

Day 1  Calgary
Arrive in Calgary and spend time exploring this cosmopolitan city on your own. That could be going to the top of the Calgary Tower, exploring Prince's Island Park or much more.  

Day 2  Calgary to Banff    
Depart Calgary this morning for a full-day transfer concluding in Banff. Journey to Banff, where you will enjoy a spectacular boat cruise on Lake Minnewanka. Highlights include Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Admission to the Banff Gondola included. Your transfer ends on arrival in Banff late this afternoon.    

Day 3  Banff      
Enjoy the day with free time to relax or book your own activities at your leisure. Banff has activities for all, from relaxing in the Banff hot springs, and exploring the bustling town, to outdoor wildlife adventures.  

Day 4  Banff to Jasper      
Continue your journey from Banff to Jasper on a sightseeing tour of Banff and Jasper National Parks via the Icefields Parkway. Bow Lake, the Columbia Icefield, Glacier Skywalk, and Athabasca Falls are among some of the day's highlights. The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. Here you will ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn about its geological features. Lunch is provided at the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre. You will arrive in Jasper late afternoon.  

Day 5  Jasper      
This morning you are free to explore the town of Jasper on your own. In the afternoon, experience the awe-inspiring beauty of Jasper National Park on a half-day sightseeing tour. Highlights include Patricia Lake, the Jasper SkyTram, and Pyramid Lake.  

Day 6  Jasper to Kamloops      
Departing early in the morning, travel onboard Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to Kamloops, in the heart of the British Columbia Interior. As you journey west and south, you will be surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Today's highlights include the climb over the Yellowhead Pass, Pyramid Falls, Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, and the journey along the North Thompson River as you approach Kamloops in the evening.

Day 7  Kamloops to Vancouver      
Early in the morning, your journey continues west towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver. On today's journey, you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the B.C. Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Cascade and Coast Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your rail journey ends on arrival in Vancouver this evening.  

Day 8  Vancouver      
Enjoy the day with free time to relax or book your own activities at your leisure. Vancouver has activities for all interests, including visiting historic Gastown, dining in lively Yaletown, or enjoying a walk on the Stanley Park Seawall. No matter what you choose to do, the Coast Mountains and the Pacific Ocean surround you.

Day 9  Vancouver      
Your journey ends upon check out from your Vancouver hotel.
