  • Duration: 5 days/4 nights
  • Starts in: Port Hardy
  • Bear viewing
  • Eco-friendly living
  • Interpretive rainforest walks

Day 1 Port Hardy to Great Bear Lodge
Arrive in Port Hardy, either independently by car or fly from Vancouver (additional cost). In the afternoon, meet a friendly lodge representative and board your floatplane transfer to the lodge. Familiarise yourself with the beautiful surroundings before embarking on a thrilling evening wildlife viewing session. End your first day with a tasty, locally-sourced dinner.
Day 2 Great Bear Lodge
Venture out early for your first bear viewing excursion; Great Bear Lodge is proud to promote lowimpact ecotourism so you can view these incredible animals undisturbed in a serenely peaceful environment. Accompanied by an experienced wildlife biologist, maybe catch your first awe inspiring glimpse of a grizzly prowling by the water’s edge or a black bear relaxing in the sun. With a variety of further viewing options in the afternoon, round off the day  by watching the moon rise from the large viewing deck.

Day 3 Great Bear Lodge
Bear activity is most frequent in the early morning and late afternoon, so these times are utilised at a variety of stunning sites. In between excursions, explore the superb glacier carved inlet via boat or head out on the popular guided rainforest hike to hunt for bear signs and learn about the ecology of the area. Bears aren’t the only local inhabitants with possible sightings of wolves, otters and even bald eagles.

Day 4 Great Bear Lodge to Port Hardy
Complete your wilderness experience with one final bear viewing session. Following a farewell lunch and afternoon activity, you are transferred by scenic floatplane back to Port Hardy. As the float plane arrives late in the day, an overnight stay in Port Hardy is included in your package.

Day 5 Port Hardy
Fly back to Vancouver (additional cost) or continue your onward journey by car.
