Magic of the Yangtze

Days 1-4  Beijing  
Fly to Beijing. Arrive the following day in this energetic metropolis and experience the dazzling bright city lights. Explore Beijing’s spectacular attractions including the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Temple of Heaven. Travel slightly north of the city to the remarkable Great Wall at Mutianyu and enjoy a walk along this iconic structure.          

Days 5-6  Beijing to Xian  
Catch the bullet train to Xian. Here you will visit the extraordinary army that is the Terracotta Warriors, as well as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Great Mosque and the Muslim Quarter.  

Days 7-9  Xian to Yangtze River cruise
Journey by train to Chongqing and board your ship for a three night Yangtze River cruise. As you cruise downriver through some of the country’s most amazing scenery, enjoy shore excursions which include a visit to Qutang Gorge, the narrowest of the Three Gorges. As you sail downstream through Wu and Xiling Gorges, board a traditional sampan (a wooden boat) to explore a narrow tributary bordered by towering cliffs and thick vegetation.          

Day 10  Yangtze      
River cruise to Yichang Tour the Three Gorges Dam and learn more about this incredible feat of engineering. Disembark and visit the Yichang Museum.

Days 11-12  Yichang to Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai and spend the afternoon exploring the picturesque French Concession area with its pretty, leafy boulevards. A city tour takes you to the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Gardens and the bustling old town area.          

Days 13-14  Fly home
