Itinerary
Day 1 Kyoto to Yunomine Onsen
Catch the train to the stunning Kumano Kodo region. You will be met on arrival and provided with an orientation to the trail you will be walking. Overnight in Yunomine Onsen, one of the oldest hot spring resorts in Japan.
Days 2-3 Yunomine Onsen to Katsuura
Enjoy a moderate three hour hike along forested paths to Kumano Hongu Taisha, a sacred shrine located high on a ridge. Visit Kawayu Onsen to dig your own alfresco onsen on the river bank. The next day climb an ancient stone staircase to the picturesque shrine of Kumano Nachi Taisha. Here, enjoy an awe-inspiring view of Nachi Falls, the tallest waterfall in Japan.
Day 4 Katsuura to Osaka
Transfer to Osaka by train.
