Itinerary

Day 1  Vienna
Arrive in stunning Vienna, a glamourous Austrian metropolis located on the banks of the Danube River. After checking in to your hotel, get your bearings of the city and wander through the cheerily decorated streets, inhaling the aromas of toasted almonds, roasted chestnuts and hot punch. This evening, perhaps try some local Viennese cuisine in a local restaurant.

Day 2  Vienna
Wake up to the excitement of discovering one of the most famous Christmas destinations in Europe, boasting a variety of Advent markets and amazing seasonal events spread over the city. Start by passing through the brightly lit arched gateway for the most iconic Christkindlmarkt at Rathausplatz in front of the town hall, featuring over 100 booths offering a variety of lovely homemade crafts and decorations. Witness big red hearts being added to the heart tree every half an hour from dusk until 21:00, try your hand (feet!) at skating and take to the ice to glide through an enchanting, illuminated trail through the park or indulge in some hearty temptations on offer at one of the stalls. Children will enjoy the Christmas magic with a multilevel carousel, a reindeer train and a children’s chalet offering a range of festive creative activities.

Day 3  Vienna
After breakfast, perhaps visit the Original Viennese Snow Globe Factory, where these wonderful keepsakes came to life over 100 years ago and learn about how they are made. Decide to navigate your way through other Christmas markets dotted around the city each with their own unique attributes. Why not uncover one of the oldest markets on Freyung, committed to tradition and listen out for the enjoyable Advent music played daily from 16:00?  If you want to explore some of what this spectacular place has to offer, choose to stop by St Stephens Cathedral, a gorgeous Gothic structure and the tallest church in Austria and climb the 343 steps to the top of the tower for breathtaking views of the city. Partake in a traditional ‘kaffe and kuchen’ at Café Sacher, the most famous historic coffee shop in Vienna, and sample a mouthwatering slice of Sacher-Torte.

Day 4  Vienna
Take a final stroll through the city and pick up and last minute decorations and souvenirs before making your way to the airport for your onward journey.

Additional Options: With a few extra days, the fantastic Christmas markets or Salzburg and Prague are easily reachable by train.
