Croatia's Historic Cities: Split & Zadar

Days 1-3 Zadar  
Arrive into laidback Zadar. As the oldest continuously inhabited city in Croatia there is a wealth of history to explore here. Wander along the cobbled streets of the historic centre and pay a visit to the Roman Forum, the ruins of the former centre of public life. See the Cathedral of Saint Anastasia, the largest church in Dalmatia and perhaps climb the bell tower for fantastic views over the city. Along the scenic waterfront see a different side to the city as you enjoy contemporary art exhibitions including the soothing rhythms of the Sea Organ and the colourful light show of the Greeting to the Sun monument, powered by solar panels.

Day 4 Zadar to Split    
Leave Zadar behind as you drive south to Split where you’ll drop off your car. Perhaps make a stop along the way to discover some of Croatia’s natural beauty with a visit to the beautiful Krka National Park which is renowned for its stunning waterfall.

Day 5-7 Split  
Meander through the labyrinthine streets of Split’s old town. At the heart of the city discover Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the former residence of Roman Emperor Diocletian. See the well-preserved Temple of Jupiter and explore the pretty Saint Domnius Cathedral. Learn more about Split’s important role in antiquity head to the Archaeological Museum which offers a fantastic collection of ancient artifacts. On the other side of the city walls stroll along the fabulous promenade and find a fantastic city beach to unwind on.
