Itinerary
Depart London on the Eurostar, changing trains in Brussels and Cologne before arriving in Berlin, your base for the next two nights while exploring this fascinating capital. After a long day of travel you may wish to simply relax or have a walk through the city to get your bearings. Maybe appreciate the street art at East Side gallery, stop by the interesting museums on museum island or experience the vibrant nightlife? From beer halls to cocktail bars, Berlin has a diverse range of venues.
Day 2 Berlin
Berlin is a city full of historical significance and a fascinating past. On your included half day walking tour through the Mitte district, experience the city’s past and present. Visit landmarks from different eras, stroll along the iconic Berlin Wall to the Brandenburg Gate and then to the Reichstag before reaching the Holocaust Memorial and then Checkpoint Charlie. The afternoon is free to explore the city at your own pace. Maybe relax in the city’s parks, enjoy the café culture or spend some more time exploring the history of Berlin.
Day 3 Berlin to Prague
Check out of your Berlin hotel and head to the train station for your journey to Prague. On arrival in the Czech capital, head to your hotel before setting out to see the city. Historically known as the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’, the count today is estimated to be much higher. From cathedrals and churches, towers and castles, the skyline is truly impressive.
Day 4 Prague
This morning discover what makes this historic city so enchanting. Saunter down the cobbled streets, appreciate the striking architecture and admire at the impressive landmarks. Later, discover the city’s medieval past as you wander the streets on an authentic food tour. Try a traditional Czech meal at Café Louvre, sample local delicacies like dumplings and braised beef and enjoy some of the world’s best beer!
Day 5 Prague to Vienna
After a relaxed morning, make your way to the train station for your scenic journey to Vienna. Upon arrival check in to your hotel before heading out to discover this magical city. Get your bearings of the city and stroll past incredible architecture, historical sites and along picturesque streets. In the evening perhaps head out for some local Viennese cuisine.
Day 6 Vienna
After breakfast, explore the city by bike on your included Vienna City Bike Tour, taking in some of the most incredible sites. Cycle through the streets with your local guide, stopping at Hosburg Palace, St Stephens Cathedral and the beautiful Vienna State Opera House. Having marvelled at the impressive imperial architecture perhaps head to one of the museums. There is a diverse offering with over 100 museums waiting to be discovered. Not to be missed for art lovers is the Kunsthistorisches Museum which houses paintings from the old masters and the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien which is home to contemporary international exhibitions.
Day 7 Vienna to Budapest
Take one last walk through the city admiring the impressive St Stephens Cathedral and breathtaking Hofburg Palace before taking the train across the border into Hungary to reach Budapest. Budapest is a city filled with grand architecture, unique charm and incredible culture dissected by the Danube river.
Day 8 Budapest
Today discover the city as you wish. Maybe visit the Hungarian State Opera House, the Chain Bridge or St. Stephens’s Church? Alternatively, Budapest is famed for its spas, so you may choose to spend the day at the ornate Széchenyi Spa, the largest public bath in Budapest complete with 18 indoor and outdoor pools which occupies a neo-Baroque mansion in City Park. Bathers relax in the pools and often will find locals playing chess on stone boards at the waters edge. On Saturday nights the baths transform with the arrival of DJ’s and light shows and there is a real party atmosphere!
Day 9 Budapest to London
Enjoy your last morning in Budapest before heading to the airport for your flight back home.
