Athens & The Peloponnese

Day 1  Athens                
Arrive into Athens and transfer to your hotel. This afternoon, why not take the traditional cable car to the highest spot in Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where you can observe breathtaking views over the entire city.

Days 2-3  Athens                  
Spend the next two days exploring historic Athens. Stop by the awe-inspiring Acropolis, dating back 2,500 years and visible from almost everywhere within the city, the incredible marble monuments are sure to impress. Continue onto the charming Plaka district, boasting narrow laneways of small enthralling museums, ancient sites and historic churches. Enjoy a gentle stroll through the National Gardens, tucked away in the heart of Athens, the gardens provide a peaceful retreat from the bustling city.

Day 4  Athens to Nafplio            
Rise early and head back to the airport to pick up your car. Leave the hustle and the bustle of the city behind and embark on a scenic journey to Nafplio. Stop at the Corinth Canal, separating the Peloponnese from the mainland, before continuing through Mycenae, enjoying the magnificent views of the Saronic Gulf on route. First sung by Homer in his epics and once the kingdom of mythical Agamemnon, Mycenae is considered the most important site of Late Bronze Age Greece. Why not stop for a while and admire this awe-inspiring fortified acropolis before continuing on to the picturesque coastal town of Nafplio.

Day 5  Nafplio    
Being Greece’s capital until 1834, today Nafplio is one of the most charming towns in Greece. Explore the fortresses of Bourtzi and Palamidi, built by the Venetians in the 17th Century, stroll through the old town and perhaps enjoy a lovely dinner on the seafront with views of the tiny islet of St Theodore.

Day 6  Nafplio to the Peloponnese      
After breakfast, drive to your luxurious beach resort, idyllically situated on the Peloponnese peninsula. Settle into your hotel and enjoy watching the sun set over the horizon.

Days 7-10  The Peloponnese      
Spend the next few days relaxing by the pool, basking in the inviting Greek sun or snorkelling in the stunning turquoise waters. With a wealth of activities try out a range of sports on the land and water, before delighting in stunning cuisine at your choice of restaurants. If you want to explore the beautiful surroundings, opt to drive to Ancient Olympia to view the site of the first documented Olympic Games in 77BC. Decide to visit the charming medieval village of Kastro and its 900 inhabitants or the extraordinary temple of Apollo or, choose to head to the coast to unwind on the beach or enjoy some fantastic snorkelling in the stunning turquoise waters.

Day 11  The Peloponnese to Athens                
Rise early and after breakfast, drive to Athens airport to drop your car off before your onward journey.
