Itinerary

Day 1  Budapest
Fly to Budapest and transfer to your hotel. After you’ve checked in, spend this afternoon exploring the city’s cobbled streets and impressive architecture. This evening, perhaps head to District VII, the old Jewish Quarter, to enjoy a drink in one of Budapest’s atmospheric ruin bars.

Day 2  Budapest
Begin the morning with a city tour to get your bearings, followed by a bracing river cruise along the Danube to admire the landmarks from the water. If you’ve worked up an appetite, perhaps head to the bustling Central Market Hall to sample some local delicacies. Visit the nearby Hungarian National Museum to learn about the country’s history from the prehistoric period to the modern day. Spend the afternoon relaxing in one of Budapest’s famous baths, fed by hot thermal springs.

Day 3  Budapest
Start today at the majestic Hungarian Parliament building, a Gothic palace perched dramatically on the riverfront. As you continue your stroll along the water’s edge, keep a look out for the ‘Shoes on the Danube Bank’ memorial, a poignant reminder of Budapest’s tragic wartime history. Cross the iconic Chain Bridge and spend this afternoon exploring Budapest’s historic west side, from the magnificent Fisherman’s Bastion to the regal Buda Castle. This evening, perhaps try one of the city’s lively wine kitchens to sample the delicious local fare.

Day 4  Fly home
Enjoy your final morning before transferring back to the airport for your flight home.
