Itinerary

Day 1  Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Fly into Keflavik airport and pick up your car before driving north to the picturesque Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Best known for Snaefellsjokull volcano, the setting of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth, the region is rich in lava fields, volcanic peaks and waterfalls.

Day 2  Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Enjoy a day exploring the peninsula. Pay a visit to Mount Kirkjufell, a pristine conical peak, and its neighbouring waterfalls or head to the peninsula tip to visit the impressive Snaefellsjokull Glacier and lava caves. The coastline boasts endless jagged rock formations left by ancient volcanic eruptions and a wide variety of hiking trails.

Day 3  Snaefellsnes Peninsula to Husafell
Today leave the peninsula and make your way east to rural Husafell. Stop for lunch in the village of Reykholt and visit the bubbling geothermal pools of Deildartunguhver.

Day 4  Husafell
Located in a hidden valley within the Icelandic highlands, Husafell is an excellent base for getting off the beaten track. Enjoy hiking across the varied landscapes, from dense woodlands to mountain peaks and rugged lava fields. Visit historic Viking ruins, join a tour to explore the Langjokull Glacier or try mountain biking across the exhilarating terrains of the Highland Park. At the end of the day visit the hot springs at Husafell Canyon Baths or take a dip in the hotel’s geothermal pool.

Day 5  Husafell to Reykjavik
Say goodbye to the beautiful Icelandic wilderness and make your way back to Reykjavik. This afternoon enjoy spotting nature’s giants on a whale watching tour before relaxing with a delicious dinner at one of the city’s exceptional restaurants.

Day 6  Reykjavik
Explore the compact capital city of Reykjavik and beyond. Take a stroll down the colourful Laugavegur street before stopping at the impressive Hallgrimskirkja Church. Perhaps attend a concert at the mesmerizing Harpa Concert Hall. Those eager for more Icelandic adventures will find a variety of day tours to enjoy including the Golden Circle, snowmobiling and glacier hikes.

Day 7  Blue Lagoon
Spend the day soaking in the milky blue waters of the Blue Lagoon. Return to Reykjavik in the evening.

Day 8  Fly home
