Itinerary
Fly to Iceland, pick up your car and head inland to discover your first taste of Southern Iceland.
Day 2 Golden Circle
Witness a plethora of geological activity today along the renowned Golden Circle. Gullfoss Falls offers spectacular views and at the Geysir Geothermal Area witness geysers shooting vast jets of boiling water into the air. Later, make your way to Thingvellir National Park, where the tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America are pulling apart creating a rift valley.
Day 3 Selfoss
Wake early to enjoy a day exploring the south coast. First up, the 60m high cascading waterfall of Seljalandsfoss, where you can get close enough to feel its tremendous power. Continue on to Vik and Reynisfjara Beach, with its enormous basalt stacks, roaring Atlantic waves and volcanic sands, before returning to in Selfoss.
Day 4 Selfoss to Kalfafell
Venture into more remote lands as you head east along the Ring Road to the isolated hamlet of Kalfafell, overlooked by awe-inspiring glaciers. En route, stop off at the Fjadrargljufur Canyon, up to 100m deep and over a mile long, the perfect spot for an afternoon hike.
Day 5 Kalfafell
Today why not venture out to the magnificent Breidamerkurjokull Glacier. Choose to stop to see the still blue waters of nearby Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, with chunks of ice flowing through to come to rest on the black sands of Diamond Beach.
Day 6 Kalfafell to Reykjavik
Drive back along the south coast to Reykjavik, perhaps stopping en route for a walk to the Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River and a dip in the warm waters. Arrive at the world’s most northerly capital where there is plenty to see and do. Perhaps head to the top of Hallgrimskirkja Church for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and ocean.
Day 7 Reykjavik
After a relaxed breakfast, drive to the Blue Lagoon, Iceland’s most popular attraction. Bathe in the soothing waters and enjoy the rejuvenating benefits of a silica face mask. This evening, take a walk along lively Laugavegur Street and find a cosy bar to reflect on your Icelandic adventure.
